There are rules in our media, people are cast in a certain light and they stay there no matter what...

Case in point. It's 24-7 in the Patriots/Ravens game, the Ravens defense has sacked Tom Brady a bunch, caused 3 turnovers, and have dominated on offense with a powerful running game. So we get to Boomer Esiason and what does he do, bash Randy Moss...Demands Moss step up and make plays. Really Boomer? It's Randy's fault that Brady's being swarmed under constantly? That Brady's thrown 2 picks, one of which was totally inexcusable? I mean seriously, Moss is the problem here?

But this is our media, we have the roles people are supposed to play, Randy Moss is a 'front-runner' he's a quitter, he's a malcontent, so if the Patriots are losing or have lost, if you can find a way to blame Randy Moss you will.

Brett Favre is exactly the opposite, everything he does is glorious and grand, it's sickening listening to the endless worship of this man-god.

But for this week Favre wasn't playing, so our 'bullshit hero-worship' of the day was a story Chris Collinsworth told about Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking. Collinsworth went on a speech about how in training camp Keith Brooking yelled at a player for screwing up a play, the player yelled at him, another play was run, and then Brooking punched the other player. Collinsworth spoke of how this proved Brookings 'leadership'...When if Brooking wasn't a Cowboy, and didn't have lily-white skin, he'd be called a 'thug' for doing this.

I hate our media so much.

Bill Simmons needs to shut up

I've read Bill Simmons for forever, I was one of the readers back when he was "The Boston Sports Guy" on the digital city garbage. I was there when he got on page 2, and now I'm there when he and Sal talk the lines.

Seriously Bill, stop, you're hurting me.

You know the week after 4th and 2 it's all I dealt with, friends lamenting Belichick's an idiot, a moron, a maniac. I had the events of that play beaten to death for a week, I was ready to move on, and out come your picks for the next week. "Yay!" I think, finally we're on to next week, a key divisional match-up with the Jets, maybe the stink of the Colts game will be washed away.

Nope, you write 15,000 words or so about how Belichick is a maniac. It was FUCKING FRIDAY...I've heard this shit for a whole week, I know what happened, I've heard it from every angle, I didn't need your days late and dollars short take on things...If you had to write that column, post it on Monday for crying out loud.

You know how Belichick won with Troy Brown as a corner? The team was the #2 scoring defense in the NFL. Why? Pressure, 45 sacks, tied for 3rd in the NFL. This year the Pats are near the bottom of the NFL, tied for 27th with the Lions for sacks. Troy Brown didn't have to cover for long, this secondary does. Why Belichick can't scheme more sacks up, I don't know, but that's the problem, it's not the secondary, it's the rush.

The reason why I rip Simmons for this was that last year when Brady had his knee shredded, Simmons laughed at everyone who said it would be "Belichick's toughest test" and Simmons knew that Belichick would figure it out and make the Pats a solid team. Earlier this year when the Pats lost to the Jets and the Sox got swept by the Angels, Simmons told an editor he wouldn't write a column about it, cause 'nobody wants to hear a Boston sports fan complain'. One 4th and 2 call later and Simmons does nothing but second guess Belichick and whine about his plight as a Boston sports fan, please Simmons, remind me again that the Celtics are all old, I haven't heard about it in a week. Can we bring up how the Red Sox are bumbling this off season?

Please, please, please Bill, write about the Hotspur or bitch about Seattle having their basketball team stolen from them, anything but this whining about Boston sports which you yourself said a month or so ago, was shit nobody wants to hear.
